Policies

SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN ARE ACTIVE
A friendly and safe environment is encouraged to make it fun at Top Kids Academy. We have set up an area of table games and computers with all of the latest software for the practice and development of language, math and science skills.

Hands-on activities, snacks, and homework time is provided for the continued development of social skills. An outside play area includes basketball and soccer field for physical education skills.

GENERAL POLICIES
We provide meals and DO NOT ACCEPT BRINGING IN FOOD ITEMS TO THE FACILITY. We are trained to provide a balanced diet. At least twice a year, the school prepares a program in which all students participate for the development of self-image and pride.

Our school has an open-door policy available to visit children at any time. We do have occasions when we need parent volunteers, if you would like to volunteer, please let us know. We do at times pass out flyers regarding pertinent information for parents, however if you should be in need of some information regarding children or parenting please do not hesitate to ask us.

ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES
You are required to sign your child in and out at the computer located at the entrance. Children will be allowed to leave with those people who are named on the registration application and they must be 18 years of age and be able to sign your child’s paperwork or forms. All individuals will be asked for identification if not recognized by the staff unless parents have supplied entrance code.

The center must be notified in writing or with a verified phone call if a new person is to pick up the child. All papers and projects will be kept in a file under the child’s name to be picked up by you on a daily basis. Our teachers cannot have a lengthy conversation with you, please limit your conversation at pick-up and drop-off times to specifics regarding the care of your child for that day. We will be happy to set up a conference with you when needed.

BIRTHDAYS
Parents are welcome to bring treats and plan ahead of time with the teacher. We recommend celebrations to be held during snack times morning or afternoon.

BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND SNACKS
We serve hot meals and nutritious snacks. Breakfast is available from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. We serve snack starting at 3:00 p.m. Lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A monthly menu will be available for your view. CHILDREN CANNOT BRING IN OR TAKE OUT FOOD ITEMS.

CLOTHING
All children must have a change of clothes. No open-toe shoes, jellies, or slip-on shoes. Bring closed water shoes for water days during the summer.

DISCOUNTS
Ten percent discount is given to second and third child. This discount is not available when using a special rate like summer camp for ages 6-13. The rate is at cost value. All parents take advantage of $15 off tuition when recommending a new student who registers.

ENROLLMENT
TKA Registration Application is to be completed, signed, and notarized prior to being admitted in the facility. To reserve your child’s place we must receive the application with registration fee. Registration and fees are non-refundable. The following must accompany the Registration Application:

  3. Signed Discipline Policy
  4. Original immunization records
  5. Original student health certificate
  6. Birth Certificate (copy)
  7. Free & Reduced Meal Application Filled

FIELD TRIPS
Parents must sign a permission slip. Students must bring uniform T-Shirts. Parents are welcome to come to all our field trips by following our vans.

HOURS
Our center is open Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

HOLIDAYS
The center will be closed on New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Fourth Of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, The Friday After Thanksgiving, And Christmas Day. During 2010, we will be open full week of Christmas and closed full week of New Year’s. After attending two days in a week the full tuition is required.

MEDICATION OR SICKNESS
All medicine must be in its original container, clearly labeled with your child’s name. Parents must fill out a medication authorization form for all medication on a daily basis. Medicine must be put in medicine cabinet at kitchen and form given to teacher. DO NOT PUT IN CHILD’S BACKPACK. We do not keep other medication in the center.

Children will not be permitted to attend Top Kids Academy if he/she exhibits any of the following conditions: fever of 100 or above, diarrhea or vomiting, green discharge from nose, any contagious condition or illness, or any rash or symptom that is not cleared with a doctor’s note.

ALSO, IF A CHILD BITES MORE THAN TWO TIMES, THE PARENT WILL BE CALLED TO PICK UP FOR THAT DAY. If your child is ill, we will contact you for pick-up. For the safety and health of other children, please keep an un-well child at home.

NAP OR RESTING TIME
We do not force children to sleep. We do ask them to lay quietly to rest. Send a blanket no pillows to be placed inside the child’s cubby.

OPEN HOUSE
Every year we will notify you of our open house for registration.

STAFF
All staff are background checked, finger-printed and mostly receive paid training when needed. Our Chief Executive Officer will be our director in staff. She is certified by the Department of Education and has a Specialist Degree in Early Childhood.

Her experience will be used for our Staff Development Program. Our staff will be qualified and trained in the area of Child Development Associate, CPR, and first aid. New Measures for driving vans include transportation log with 2 people to check off children, training and medical certificate from driver.

TARDINESS FOR VPK STUDENTS
The school day begins at 8:30 a.m. All students arriving late MUST SIGN IN AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE AND RECEIVE A PASS BEFORE GOING TO THEIR CLASSES.

TUITION
Weekly tuition is due by Monday’s closing. Payments on Tuesday will add $20.00 late fee. If tuition is not paid by Tuesday, your child will not be allowed to return until full payment is received. No deductibles or credits allowed for absences after TEN ABSENT days. All other missed time must be paid in full. Payments can be done with VISA, Master-card, debit or credit, cash, or money-order.
